http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7906803.html
This patent from Canon teaches a way to combine a capacitor and a transistor on a single nanowire which may be critical to future miniaturization of DRAM memory cells. Claim 1 reads:
1. A capacitor, comprising:
a first electrode comprised of an electroconductive nano-wire;
a dielectric layer partly covering the peripheral face of the first electrode; and a second electrode covering the peripheral face of the dielectric layer, wherein the dielectric layer is divided into at least two portions covering the first electrode, the second electrode covers the at least two portions of the dielectric layer, and the first electrode is bared between the divided portions, and wherein the bared portion of the first electrode is in a middle portion of the capacitor.
