Electrodeless lamps are energized by a power source outside of the lamp and have the advantage of a longer life expectancy and higher efficiency. This patent teaches one variation of electrodeless lamp based on microwave excitation of carbon nanotubes. Claim 1 reads:
1. An electrodeless light source, comprising a microwave source and carbon nanotubes, wherein said carbon nanotubes are in an inert gas or nitrogen having a pressure about 0.1-1.0 torr.
