Diamond-like carbon films have superior characteristics in hardness, wear-resistance, and electrical insulation. This patent from Nanotech LLC includes some basic claims (priority 2003) to a nanocrystalline version of diamond films having high purity. Claim 1 reads:
1. A film comprising a nano-crystalline diamond matrix, wherein the film has less than 3 weight percent of graphite.
