This patent from Konica Minolta Medical and Graphic includes some broad claims for electrostatically charged nano-phosphors which enhances luminance for applications in molecular labeling and displays. Claim 1 reads:

1. A nanosized phosphor,

wherein at least 90% of total particles have a particle size of 1 to 100 nm and an electrostatic charge amount of the total particles is from −20 μC/g to 5 μC/g.
