This patent is from Applied Nanotech and teaches a variety of nanotube ChemFET which improves the sensitivity by using an immobilizing polymer. Claim 1 reads:

1. A method of detecting an analyte comprising the steps of:

immobilizing a polymer and sensing element to carbon nanotubes lacking alignment; and

utilizing a transduction mechanism to detect the analyte, wherein the transduction mechanism uses a thin film transistor.
