This patent has some early priority going back to 2001 and includes some basic claims to the manufacture of nanoparticles for use in LEDs and electronic displays. Claim 1 reads:
1. A method for making nanoparticles, comprising:
providing an organometallic material selected from the group consisting of silicon, germanium and tin, disposed in a fluidic medium comprising a material selected from the group consisting of alcohols, amines and thiols, and
thermally decomposing the organometallic material to form nanoparticles.
