US Patent 7586249 - CNT Yarn field emitter

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7586249.html

Researchers working with Hon Hai Precision have developed carbon nanotube yarn from nanotube segments connected via molecular forces. This patent includes some basic claims to using this nanotube yarn for electron emission. Claim 1 reads:

1. A field emission device, comprising:

a base; and

at least one carbon nanotube yarn attached to the base, the at least one carbon nanotube yarn comprising a plurality of carbon nanotube segments, the carbon nanotube segments being joined end to end by van der Waals attractive force.
