This patent proposes a nanocomposite material having the capability to mimic the natural lens of the eye and thus eliminate the need for reading glasses after cataract surgery. Claim 1 reads:
1. A hydrogel nanocomposite comprising a reversible hydrogel having nanoparticles dispersed therein, wherein said nanoparticles have particle sizes less than about 150 nm.
