US Patent 8018675 - Magnetic head with CNT heat dissipation
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/8018675.html
Electromagnetic coils used in read/write heads of hard disk drives are subject to Joule heating which can produce stress and deterioration over time. This patent from TDK Corporation teaches how carbon nanotubes can be incorporated into the insulation layer of the read/write head to provide heat dissipation. Claim 1 reads:
1. A thin-film magnetic head comprising
a magnetic pole,
a coil surrounding the magnetic pole, and
an insulating layer covering the coil;
wherein the insulating layer is formed from a resin containing a carbon nanotube.
