This patent from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology teaches improved cathodes for lithium-ion batteries with higher capacity, higher reversible efficiency, and much longer cycle life than commercially available graphite cathodes. Claim 1 reads:
1. A lithium ion battery wherein the negative electrode material comprises carbon nanotubes having no dimension greater than 2 μm, and wherein the negative electrode material comprises a mixture of said carbon nanotubes and graphite.
